Less than a week to publication day

There’s a constant knot in my stomach and I’m waking up in the middle of the night – that must mean that the publication day for A Class Entwined is fast approaching! I’m excited to share my new book with you but of course the nerves are starting to kick in too. There is so much to do in the run-up to the release and I am ticking off lists left, right and centre!

A momentous step in the process was the arrival of the proof copies during the week. It’s a very special moment to Continue reading

A Class Entwined – release date and cover reveal!

It’s hard to believe that only a year ago I made the decision to self-publish my historical fiction series, and now I’m about to announce the release of my second book!

I published A Class Apart, the first instalment in my series A Matter of Class, in July 2018 and I can now reveal that the second instalment, A Class Entwined, will come out on 1st February 2019. This date is particularly apt as it is the feast day of St Brigid, who is one of the patron saints of Ireland and the person after whom Continue reading

Interview with author Catherine Kullmann

I’m delighted to welcome historical fiction author Catherine Kullmann to my blog today. Catherine’s latest novel, A Suggestion of Scandal, came out in August this year. You can find out more about it below – but first, I got the chance to ask Catherine some questions about her writing and here is what she had to say!

You’re very welcome today, Catherine. Please introduce yourself and your books.

Thank you, Susie, and thank you for your kind invitation. I was born and educated in Dublin, Ireland. Following a three-year courtship conducted mostly by letter, I moved to Germany where Continue reading

Good news! (And a peek at some old diary entries)

I’m in the process of moving house and, in the middle of the arduous task of clearing out the attic, I stumbled across some of my old diaries. These made for very entertaining reading which I will shortly share with you.

Before that though, I have something else to share – good news! I recently sent off the manuscript for A Class Entwined (Book 2 in my A Matter of Class series) to my editor for a manuscript assessment. I then spent a few weeks biting my nails as I anxiously awaited her feedback. Last week, she got in touch. And I’m so excited to say that she came back with Continue reading

Why I’ve been a bit quiet online lately

This is what I like to categorise as a diary post – a catch up on some things that are happening in my ‘real life’ at the moment. These things aren’t writing-related, but you could say they’re having an effect on my writing all the same. (If this doesn’t interest you and you’re just here to learn more about my books, fear not – head on over to my newsletter to stay up to date with all the news on my A Matter of Class series!)

So what’s been going on in the offline world for me? Not one but two major points of upheaval: I’ve changed Continue reading

A Class Apart discounted for a limited time!

Being an author these days involves a lot more than typing ‘The End’ with a big flourish. I knew this before I made the decision to publish A Class Apart, but over the past six weeks since my book was released I’ve become much more acquainted with all the different hats an author must wear.

For a long time I’ve been very familiar with hats such as writer, editor, proofreader. Now there are more hats to add to the pile: marketer, advertiser, promoter. My book won’t sell unless people know about it, and they won’t know about it unless I advertise it. So it’s time to Continue reading
