This is just a quick note to let you know that I’ll be hitting the airwaves again tomorrow, Tuesday August 7th. Tipp FM, my local radio station in County Tipperary, has invited me onto its daily show ‘Tipp Today’, hosted by Fran Curry. I’ll be talking about my book A Class Apart and also a little bit about my background in music. If you’d like to tune in, you can go to tippfm.com and click on their Listen Live button. I’ll be on just after 11am (Irish time)!
I have a confession to make. Thrilled as I was to see everyone spreading the news of the launch of A Class Apart, it also made me really nervous – people were sharing it without knowing whether it was any good at all. What if they ended up not liking it? What if they read the first page and thought it was terrible? After the high of the launch, the crushing self-doubt seriously kicked in.
Then the feedback started to trickle in and – to this author’s unspeakable relief – the reactions have been positive! I am so delighted to hear that readers are genuinely enjoying my book. It is the best feeling in the world to know that Continue reading
Last Saturday, July 21st, I did my first author interview on live radio. Many thanks to Yvette Poufong and Dublin City FM for featuring me on their Saturday brunch show. I have to admit there were a few nails bitten before the interview that morning but I think it went all right in the end! I’ve included the audio clip below – it’s just over 16 minutes.
Among the things Yvette and I chatted about Continue reading
I’m pleased to announce that, as of this afternoon, A Class Apart is officially stocked in two bookshops in my hometown. I’m from Thurles in Co Tipperary and both Bookworm on Liberty Square and Eason’s in the Dunnes Shopping Centre have taken copies for their shelves. Even Thurles Library is Continue reading
Well, July 10th is a day that will stay in my memory for quite some time! My debut novel, A Class Apart, has officially been launched into the world!
Before I go into the details of yesterday’s magic, I’m pleased to say that I’ve been interviewed by the lovely author Ashley O’Melia! You can read that interview here. I’m also giving away a free copy of A Class Apart as part of the feature so do head on over there and check it out. Warmest thanks to Ashley for having me on her blog!
Going back to the book launch, I have to say it was a whirlwind of a day. I was overwhelmed by Continue reading
Publication day is here! My debut novel, A Class Apart, is now available to purchase in ebook or paperback form on all Amazon platforms.
I think I need to pinch myself. 🙂 🙂
I could not have reached this wonderful stage by myself. There are so many amazing people I need to thank and I have done that over on my Acknowledgements page. On top of all those named, my deepest gratitude goes to each and every person who asked me how I was getting on with my writing, liked and commented on my posts, wished me luck, or offered me help in any shape or form. Your lovely words and kind gestures gave me the encouragement to keep going. You are all legends.
So I’m a published author now, can you believe it? And what cooler way to prove it than to link to Continue reading
In a matter of just four days on July 10th, I will be officially releasing my debut novel, A Class Apart, which is the first instalment in my historical fiction series A Matter of Class. The series, beginning in Ireland in 1828, follows heiress Bridget and stable hand Cormac who are on opposite sides of the class divide – and because of that society says they shouldn’t fall in love. I’m very excited to introduce you to these characters, who have been my secret companions for the past sixteen years.
And I find I can’t wait until publication day to do that! So I have Continue reading
So I had this mad idea to put together a promotional video for my forthcoming novel, A Class Apart (releasing on July 10th). It seems to be all the rage these days to create a book trailer to help publicise your book, in the same way they make movie trailers for cinema and TV. Here’s a good example of a book trailer for Catherine Ryan Howard’s recent release, The Liar’s Girl (which is a crime novel, so it obviously strikes a very different tone to my own genre of historical fiction, but I’m sure you’ll agree it’s suitably creepy).
I felt I couldn’t go about this in quite the usual fashion though. Trying to Continue reading
In my last blog post, I said that I was about to embark on my final read through of my soon-to-be-published novel, A Class Apart. Well, that quick job took a full week…! But I’m delighted to announce that it’s finished at last, and it’s now time to push my baby out of the nest.
So today I am going to announce the publication date for A Class Apart and also reveal Continue reading
